Me and Crumpet by T-34

Me and my sweet dog Crumpet… with a beautiful Russian T-34 tank in the background

My name is Adair Jacobs, and I am a 20-year old writer- writing is what I love, and I am always coming up with new stories and ideas. I have written poetry since I was six years old, and about a year later I began a fantasy novel. That novel remains unfinished and simply serves to remind me of how far my writing has come! I am currently writing a novel set on the Eastern Front of World War II, while working on publishing another novel (also about WWII) as an e-book. Inspiration finds me through many things, although WWII must be acknowledged as my foremost passion and thus, my greatest inspiration.

I write because I honestly enjoy the process, but also because I want to draw attention to subjects and ideas that people may be unfamiliar with. For example, I love the Russian language and Russian culture, but many people are unaware of the great contribution Russia made to the Allied cause in WWII. It is my hope that my writing will help to change that. Although writing is fun for me, it also always has a point. I have never written a story that does not have a specific point or reason for being written.

As for my blog, it is a collection of all my interests; of which there are many! I enjoy and am interested in many things, from aviation, fashion, and travel to international affairs and sports like ice hockey and Formula One racing. Evidently, my interests are rather varied and eccentric, so don’t be surprised if you find a post on 1940s fashion followed by an in-depth look at one of my favourite fighter jets!

I was born in Canada but am also a proud British citizen, and my heritage undoubtedly influences my writing- you may also find many references to Britain and its many wonderful features on my blog! But Keep Calm and Remember, above all, was created to celebrate, commemorate, and remember.

I write about WWII and the 1940s because the soldiers and civilians of that war and era endured things that 21st-century Westerners cannot imagine. I write about airplanes of yesteryear because these fabulous machines are swiftly being retired, and I wish to always remember their prowess. And I write opinion pieces on international affairs because it seems that all too often we forget the lessons learned in conflicts and decades past. I’m sure you get the idea! I have always been a very nostalgic person, and I hope that this blog reflects that in a positive and progressive way.

To all of you reading this, thank you so much for your interest in my blog! I welcome all feedback and comments, and would be more than happy to elaborate on any of my posts. Especially the WWII ones- as I said, that is my main area of interest. I could talk about it indefinitely, so you’ve been warned! Thanks for reading, and I hope that my writing will continue to educate, interest, and entertain you in the future.

  1. It is my utmost pleasure to meet you. Historical fiction does wonders in getting people interested in the era (whichever era that may be). I wish you all the success in the world with your books, career and life!

  2. Greetings from Russia Adair! I accidentally found your blog and was amazed a lot! Your appreciative reader Sergey! (Sorry for my poor english)).

    • Hi Sergey! Thank you so much, I’m delighted that you enjoyed my blog! I’m always happy to get readers from Russia! Thanks again, and actually your English is quite good 🙂

      • Thank you so much! I am proud of your great job! You are right, our people have paid the highest price in that war. We do not have a single person who did not lost its ancestors there. It’s unbelievable but many families have lost five, six and even seven sons in the war – http://ossetians.com/eng/index.php?showcat=jump&f=13
But in contrast of the movie “Saving Private Ryan” nobody in the world even know about them((.

      • Thank you, I am so happy that you appreciate my work! It’s horrible how severely the war affected the Russian nation- the scale of the Eastern Front was just enormous. And it’s horrible that nobody knows about it, too! I hope that my blog will help the world to recognize Russians’ sacrifices, because the price paid was too great to be ignored! And thanks for sharing that link 🙂

  4. Adair, you are absolutely amazing. I thought at first that you had to be 65+ and retired with the breadth of knowledge you possess. Would you be able to private message me with your email? I am writing a historical novel set in WWII in a village in Poland. Thanks!

  5. Hi! I am completing a book and would love to use your photo you have here of the inscription at Westminster Abbey (May God grant to the living). Would you consider allowing me to use it? Brian

    • Hi Brian, sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. How exciting that you’re completing a book, I know how rewarding (and trying) that can be! May I ask what your book is about?

  6. Hi Adair. This is a great site that I will share with my students! I’m a historian specializing in Soviet history in the WWII era, and I’m also writing a novel on the side. Email me some time; you can find me at Norwich University.
